Support, Training and Resources for all Out of School Care Services

Parents - interested in finding out more about Oscar Programmes?

What funding is available for OSCAR programmes?

There are two main funding avenues for OSCAR programmes - Assistance funding through the Ministry of Social Development and the OSCAR Subsidy through Work & Income. For more information on these click on the buttons at the top of the page. These funding pools both have a basic criteria - the main criteria being that a programme is Child, Youth and Family Approved.

For New programmes setting up an Out of School programme or existing programmes not yet CYFS Approved

If you are setting up a new programme or are an existing programme that is not Child, Youth and Family approved you can apply for a Development Grant through the Ministry of Social Development (administered by The OSCAR Foundation). This is a one-off grant of up to $3,000 for help with the initial set up costs and costs involved with seeking approval. This payment can be used for promoting your programme, or making any changes needed to meet Child, Youth and Family approval requirements.

Other Funding - for not-for-profit groups only

Your local council may also help with the initial set up costs with a seeding grant, ask around your community, local council representative, MP, other community groups etc

Your local library has access to the Funding Information Service (FINS) database, you can search funders by matching your criteria with theirs e.g. Youth, recreation, childcare - and later for staff wages, training, personal development, management training etc.

Get in touch with your local Rotary or Lions Clubs, they may assist with one-off or on-going assistance with fundraising.
